Well, it's been a while since the last post. I was hoping I'd be able to say something about my swim progress. It's been a story of one step forward and two steps back. I took 2 workshops last year with several follow ups. After the 1st workshop and several months of practice I became comfortable and could do the work, after the second workshop... I practiced the information and technique but seriously regressed. I have spent hours at the pools working on form and listening to everybody and their dog. Seems every place I go, some coach tells me something new. I know there is a lot to it, but having one place and one time might be a key to having only one persons theory. My doggie paddle was coming along, but I'm afraid my own Water Dog could still pass me up. I was feeling fine with a 15 minute 750 last fall at an RPE of 5. Now I can't come close and am struggling. This is all after practicing technique 3-4 days a week from Nov until recently. Then the Spring Sprint showed it all fell to pieces. A 16:45 750y, with major struggles. Pretty sad since I need a 1900m and it needs to be with little struggle. The struggle takes away from my run for sure, I am to the point of just do it. As in -- do or die... Been at the pond for a few weeks, just getting my garbage yards in... Hope something clicks very soon because I don't want to waste my bike and run training, as they have been progressing. Some say stick to the weakness. Well I have been hitting the swim 3-4 days a week. I can't just let the others go.
Bike progress: Last years Hilltop times were ~30 minutes, today I got the hill in 20:36. http://app.strava.com/rides/8154480#149263205
Map shows 3/12/11 time was from 18:37 to 46:02 ~ 28:25 total.

I just finished a fairly long training Du that consisted of a 9 mile run, 52 mile bike, and a 3 mile run. Efforts were higher than normal, at least on the bike, although I felt strong throughout. The 9 miler averages were 8:40 with HR in the lower 140's, Ride was moving along a pretty good clip-- with a lot of work in the lower 150's. The transition run was a quicker pace with a higher HR in the lower 160's.
Hope to continue this kind of progress on the bike.
I will continue to hack away on the swim, I look forward to progressing.
